Soccer News & Features - 4/13


Here are some of the major stories and rumors from the past couple of days outside of the on the pitch results:

 - Arsenal team doctors have revealed that striker Robin Van Persie is set to return against Tottenham tomorrow afternoon. This is a huge boost for the Gunners who are clinging to hope for the EPL title and recently lost captain Cesc Fabregas for the rest of the season to injury.
 - Sports Illustrated recently sat down to interview MLS commissioner Don Garber to discuss his top priorities for the next year, the new DP rule change, MLS players in the World Cup, and the MLS' new website.
 - Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor announced his retirement from the Togo national team. Adebayor stated that he is still haunted by the attack on his team on their way to the African Cup of Nations.
 - DC United recently announced that they will host AC Milan on May 26th in a friendly match-up at RFK Stadium. Since the match will take place weeks before the World Cup, a few key stars will not be traveling with the team.
 - Liverpool and Spain's national team fans received good news today as club doctors revealed that striker Fernando Torres could recover from his most recent knee injury in just a week or two. Liverpool is trying to make a push towards the EPL's 4th position and a Champions League spot, or at least maintain a Europa League invitation for next season.
 - MLS week three is complete and we've got two recaps/lessons learned from this past week's action from SI's Steve Davis and ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.
 - Finally, after a year of waiting Juventus striker Amauri received his Italian citizenship paving the way for a potential Italy national team call-up.
